The study of popular music and song is now a legitimate academic discipline, taught in schools, colleges and universities throughout the UK and beyond.
This workshop is intended as the first in a series of events which will bring together those with an interest in the subject, to create a forum for the exchange of ideas about effective teaching methods.
There will be no formal papers presented: instead, you will have the opportunity to participate in five teaching sessions given by teachers who use a range of approaches. What you get out of the day is some new, practical ideas for use with your own students. In return, bring along any materials you find useful and we can pool resources.
There will be ample opportunity for the informal exchange of ideas. We are planning to end the day with a meal at Manchester's excellent Yang Sing restaurant - if you'd like to come along, let us know and we will book you a place.
We need to know as soon as possible if you are able to come along to this event - we are only able to accomodate a limited number.
